50 Faces of City

The Coastal Carolina Aquatic Association had its 50th Championship Meet this past weekend and I'm proud to say I've been a part of 13 of those years, both as a swimmer and a coach. City Meet is something all summer league swimmers in the Charleston area look forward to. It is a huge meet where hundreds of swimmers and their coaches get together for three days to compete and have fun while doing it. If you have never experienced a City Meet and/or walked through "Tent City", it is a little hard to explain the incredible atmosphere that is present. The whole weekend is such an awesome experience and I can't wait for the next 50 years of its existence.

Last year, my two best friends and I talked about doing a "Humans of City Meet" (similar to the famous "Humans of New York" photos) kind of a project, but the more I thought about doing it the more overwhelmed I felt. But when I learned this year would be the 50th anniversary of the meet I knew I had to try and do something along the lines of that original idea. That is when the "50 Faces of City" project was born. To make not only this meet go smoothly but also the whole summer swim season go well, thousands of people are involved. Swimmers make up the majority of that number but without the parents, coaches, and volunteers NOTHING would go right. The gallery of photos below is just a small representation of people who make up the City Meet. Key word here is "small", there are so many people I didn't get to take photos of. But if people respond positively to this project I would love to expand on it and take photos next year of the people who work extremely hard at the meet but I didn't capture them on my first go around.

So without further ado, please check out "50 Faces of City". Just click on any face you want to see it full scale and then click through to see the rest of the images. I hope you enjoy these portraits, I know I enjoyed taking them!
